We have experience working with embedded digital systems, through corporate infrastructure and networks up to the cloud. Our experience gives us great insight whether working at the high level with systems architecture or low level diagnosing and fixing a new Internet of Things (IoT) device.

There are many driving factors in business today, from data security/sovereignty to the environment we can provide a nuanced approach to satisfy as many of these goals as possible.

Business process automation

Automation in your business process can save time and reduce mistakes. You may already have a partially automated system but it's lacking a key feature or step to complete the automation for your current business needs. We can work with you to assess the options available whether it's a slight adjustment to your existing implementation, an extension of one or more existing packages/solutions allowing them to communicate or a much larger system development. Where possible we like to build on the best bits of the existing process/system.

The Cloud

Do you want to fully embrace and outsource to the cloud, have a hybrid solution or provide services from your sites to the rest of the world? With the ever improving broadband infrastructure and affordable/subsidised leased lines the options for how to connect your business, employees and customers expand.

There are many benefits moving services into data centres, this effectively outsources hardware management and maintenance giving access to high resilience and availability without the need for large in-house IT teams and upfront hardware costs.

Although there are many benefits of the cloud it may not be feasible to audit another company's infrastructure and processes to validate data handling and resilience implementations.

There are many options for cloud providers, from using your existing Internet Service Provider's (ISP's) data centre(s) to using international corporations such as Amazon, Google, Microsoft and Oracle. Whilst using a single provider can keep administration of services simple, you may wish to mix deployment between a number of providers to improve resilience, reduce single points of failure and benefit from the different offerings of the providers.

Dev Ops

If you are producing software or firmware you will know how critical Dev Ops is to maximising the productivity of your developers, fulfilling your corporate standards compliance and delivering a consistent quality product to your customers. You may already have a functional environment working well and be looking to extend your automation for continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery/deployment (CD) (CI/CD).

Embedded Development

Whether your working bare metal on a device where every instruction byte counts, a real time operating system or custom Linux kernel and device tree we can design, build, test, diagnose and optimise your product. Working from schematics we can help investigate and prove low level peripherals are functioning as expected.

There are many microprocessors, microcontrollers, complex programmable logic devices (CPLDs) and field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) by many manufacturers and our experience helps us adapt to new devices with new features and peripherals as required.

Networking

To take advantage of high speed Internet connections it is essential that your business network is efficient, resilient and secure. Should you need help diagnosing a performance issue, monitoring the live state of network elements or ensuring you have sufficient traffic auditing we can assist.

There are many components that make up a corporate network from routers, to switch and wireless access points. Whether you have a single provider such as MikroTik or Ubiquiti or are mixing many different vendors they all need to function in harmony to provide your desired solution.

Open Source

Would you like to embrace open source software and technology more? It can be a challenge working with open source systems where there is a range of interfaces, methodologies and innovative thinking unrestricted by the bounds of corporate infrastructure.

There are many ways to leverage open source software from using packages like LibreOffice instead of a commercial offering such as Microsoft Office to working with an open source operating system.

Today it is much more feasible to work with open source Linux based operating systems such as Red Hat, SUSE, Oracle Linux and many community driven distributions, which integrate with existing Microsoft based corporate networks or can provide a whole network ecosystem of their own.

The open source approach has the advantage of being transparent, allowing it to be reviewed by experts and security bodies all over the world.
